Explore New Hiking Trails

One of our favourite summer activities for kids and parents to enjoy together, has to be hiking. The kids can look out for different nature and wildlife on route, and it’s a great way to get out and enjoy the good weather as a family. There are plenty of family friendly hiking trails to explore across the country, with summer being the perfect time to discover them.

Try Paddle Boarding

If you’ve never been stand up paddle boarding before, why not try it out as a family this summer? Or, if you’ve been paddle boarding for years, summer is a great time to introduce your kids to your favourite hobby. There are plenty of calm water spots across Australia to try out paddle boarding for the first time. Host An Outdoor Movie Night

Set up a makeshift projector, create a cosy seating area, get plenty of tasty snacks, and you’ve got yourself your very own backyard cinema. It’s the perfect way to spend a cosy evening outdoors under the stars, and that’s why it has to be one of our favourite summer activities for kids and their parents to enjoy together.

Make An Obstacle Course

Obstacle courses are pretty quick and easy to set up but they provide hours of fun for the kids. It’s easy to make an obstacle course in your backyard using tunnels, hoops, bean bags etc. You can also use water balloons and buckets of water to make it more fun.

Go Open Water Swimming

When the weather’s scorching hot, there’s nothing better than diving into the water. That’s why open water swimming is one of our favourite summer activities for kids and parents to enjoy together. Have A Beach Picnic

Pack up some yummy treats and snacks and head towards the sea for the day. There are plenty of fun beach games to keep the kids entertained in between snacking, such as volleyball, beach tennis and frisbee. However, you don’t always have to go far in order to enjoy the magic of camping outdoors. Another one of our favourite summer activities for kids is camping in the backyard. This one requires zero effort, but never fails to deliver on fun. You can spend the day setting up camp, and then cook up some delicious treats on the BBQ or camp fire in the evening. The kids love it, and you don’t even have to leave your backyard!

Create A Treasure hunt

A good, old fashioned treasure hunt is another one of the best summer activities for kids. You can hide treasures around the backyard and create clues for the kids to find them. This might require a little bit of effort of imagination, but it’s definitely worth it when you see how much the kids love it!
