Red Compact 12 ft x 32.
I bought this after much discussion with Lauryn and George at Red HQ, which is just down the road from me in South Devon. The alternative was a 12.6 Voyager. I'm so glad I went this way. The compact 12 feels slightly familiar when first ridden, although the PACT cloth is completely different from the MSL of the Ride series. I think that is it's DNA crossing due to shape. It glides effortlessly and is extremely stable. I felt more at home on this first time out than the board I was using. It still has the capacity to turn well and I have no problems with the tracking, given that it has only two 5" fins? The battens were a bit of a swine to fit the first time, but subsequently have been easier. I gave them a light rub with furniture polish, which I am sure has helped here. The board feels really solid on the water. I have never ridden a composite board but this feels as stiff as I would ever need a board to be. After just two rides I am smiling every time I get on the board. I really like 4.75 inch thick boards. You feel as though you are walking on water and more in touch with what is going on. The flat bungees are really useful and in the right place relative to the deck and how you stand. I also enjoy the side handles which definitely make it much easier to lift out of the water when you are finished. The offset carry handle which gives you a choice of how to carry the board and will really help those of us whose arms arms aren't so long. The deck itself is super-comfy for…
