SUP in New South Wales, Australia

Bayview is a beautiful location for paddle boarding for many reasons. Aptly named, it overlooks the bay of Pittwater an important national heritage, making it a perfect spot to SUP in New South Wales and take in the beautiful views.

Sandwiched between Mona Vale and Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park it is easily accessible and has a number of spots to stop off around the bay to explore the National Park.

Highlights

This paddle allows you to really take in the scenery and bright blue waters of Bayview. It can be a busy bay but if you find the right spot it can be amazingly peaceful. You can make the paddle as easy or as long as you want. You can spend your day dropping in on the cafés, stop off for a few beers along the way or just relax and enjoy hoping in and out of the water. The whole bay is busy with rowers, swimmers (both canine and human) and of course paddlers, so there’s a friendly atmosphere out on the water and it's perfect paddling for all abilities.

You can also park easily anywhere along the shores and simply plan a paddle around the area.

  • Launch point

Launch at the very end of Pittwater Road, just before Church Point Warf.

  • Places to stay

There plenty of places to stay in the area - Airbnb apartments around here are epic! Otherwise a few of our favourites are Scotland Island Lodge, Refuge Cove and Metro Mirage Hotel Newport.

  • Places to eat and drink

There are many places to eat south of Church Point and along the whole shore.

The Waterfront Store may look a little shabby on the outside but inside it is gorgeous. Filled with fauna, amazing seafood and a decking located right on the waters edge. It’s a relaxing spot to re-fuel after a day of paddling and enjoy a well earned beer. The banana bread is especially good!

The Newport is a particularly popular gathering place, with a wide range of outdoor dining spaces. With a huge variety on the menu, live music on weekends and also a gorgeous view to watch the sunset. It's the perfect place to have a spot of lunch mid paddle, or a good place to launch and return too later. The pizza is delicious!

There is also the Flying Fox Café in Mona Vale, and Blue Pearl Bay View Thai Waterfront Restaurant along Pittwater Road.
