LeverLock handle won't fit correctly in shaft- is too loose/too tight

If you are having trouble fitting your LeverLock into the paddle shaft or there is still some movement of the handle when the lever is placed in the shaft and in the locked position, it may be that you need to adjust the rubber stopper at the bottom of the LeverLock handle by turning the nut clockwise to increase the width of the stopper or anti-clockwise to reduce the width.

If the width of the rubber stopper doesn't appear to be adjustable, it may be that it has become compressed into a fixed width. In this case, you can replace it with a spare.

We suggest keeping your LeverLock handle in an unlocked position with the lever lifted up, when not in use. This way, less tension will be put through the handle to prevent the stopper from compressing.

Refurbishment of 5 pc Paddle

The problem was that the old stopper had become stuck in the top tube and was unable to release its grip.

After removing the cap insert at the bottom of the top tube, I was able to knock the stopper free with a small diameter steel bar and a mallet. The old packer was still swollen and could not be re fitted into the tube.

Ordered two new stoppers from Red Paddle Co in Totnes and they arrived within a few days.

Refitted the new stopper and it now easily releases using the lever.

A simple moulded stopper that is so important to the longevity of your 3 part paddle

Inexpensive but a game changer if the moulded inserts in the existing stopper have perished. Once fitted, the locking system works perfectly again. If in doubt, get one as a spare and keep a good eye on whether the existing one is starting to perish. The other key tip is DON'T leave the handle section of the paddle in the shaft of the middle section when storing it. I made this mistake and it was a tough job to separate the two sections!
