Devon in the South of England is iconic for many things including the beautiful coastline, spectacular beaches and mesmerizing wildlife. In fact, Devon has two separate coastlines; the English Channel in the South and the Bristol Channel in the North - so there's lots to explore on your SUP! 1. Wimbleball Lake

We had to start our list of ‘best places to paddle board in Devon’ with this stunning spot located in the South East of Exmoor, Devon. Wimbleball Lake has everything you could need for a paddle boarding adventure, including: changing rooms, a cafe and even a watersports centre - in case your SUP moves are a bit rusty! The glistening body of water is perfect for stand up paddle boarding beginners, due to its flat stillness, which makes keeping your balance that little bit easier.

2. South Milton Sands

National Trust owned, South Milton Sands is one of the most popular beaches in the South Hams due to its vast golden sands, teeming rock pools and wide sheltered bay. Thurlestone rock, a natural archway positioned in the bay, is a perfect point to practice your stand up paddle boarding skills, testing your precision and control as you venture under the arch. If you’re feeling adventurous, simply deflate your Red paddle board, stuff it in its SUP backpack and carry it along the South West coast path until you see the historic village and bright blue waters of Hope Cove.

3. Watermouth Cove

5. Dartmoor, Haytor Quarry

If you’re looking for places to paddle board with spectacular scenery and tranquil still waters, Haytor Quarry is for you! Haytor Quarry is the perfect spot to get in uninterrupted paddle board practice in the busy summer season, as most swimmers will head up to Haytor Rocks. But don’t be fooled, the Quarry is just as beautiful, surrounded by high rocks covered in blooms of natural flowers. Shielded from the harsh weather often found on Dartmoor, the Quarry’s flat water is perfect for stand up paddle boarding beginners. Don’t forget your kit bag for trekking up those Dartmoor hills.

6. Burgh Island

Head towards Orcombe Point at the start of the Jurassic Coast for a more challenging paddle or stay in the ‘duckpond’ for a still paddle board playground to hone your skills.
