A Pre-Christmas Picnic You Can Enjoy Indoors

Posted by Jasmine Butler

The countdown for Christmas has begun and with the temperature dropping in the UK what’s better than getting snug indoors with good food and good company.

Why not plan a perfect Christmas pre-feast to get everyone in the spirit this year and relax after the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping. Great for couples, families, or the odd friend or two, get set for a cosy night in.

What you’ll need:

  • Food
  • Beverages of choice
  • Board or card games
  • Cosy candlelight
  • Snug blankets
  • Good company

Begin by putting those cheesy Christmas hits on in the background and prep the food ready for the guests. For food inspiration (and to avoid spending too long in the kitchen) why not try tapas style items such as stuffed peppers and olives, cured meats, fresh cheeses, garlic potatoes or pan tumaca.

Don’t want to be in the kitchen at all? Why not order a personalised charcuterie box or hamper straight to your door! With many options available for delivery online- your feast can be tailored to your needs. Alternatively, learn how to make your own festive cheese board here.

For beverages make it festive with mulled wine, baileys or spiced rum. For those wanting a more ‘chilled’ evening serve luxury hot chocolates topped with whipped cream, marshmallows, and chocolate sprinkles! Even better, give the extra wow factor and also serv with a ginger bread man or a candy cane.

Next, get the place ready. If your Christmas decs are up already then simply add lit candles, cosy blankets, and a few games. The games can be tailored for everyone, including charades, a few rounds of cards or the ultimate classic - Monopoly. If you want to go that extra mile and make it a true indoor picnic, gather comfortable cushions, blankets and a coffee table to get cosy around.

The last thing to do is gather great company, whether that’s a partner, a group of friends or the whole family, invite them over for a pre-Christmas picnic indoors. Make new memories by having everyone wear silly Christmas hats or jumpers, and simply have fun!
